Andong Historic House Yisangnu with long history (Taejangjaesa Ritual House of Andong Kim Clan)

Every lunar October 10th, Andong Historic House Yisangnu is a place for meeting and worship Andong Kim Clan's progenitor Taesagong Kim Seonpyeong, who contributed to the foundation of Goryeo Dynasty.

"Yisangnu" means stepping on the frost, which is derived from "I Ching - Book of Changes".

Every October, the weather gets cold enough to see the frost, ancestors found the meaning from it, even the plants return back to the root, so as a human being. For this reason, every October 10th of the lunar calender is the day for the memorial ceremony of the ancestor Kim Seonpyeong.

In the morning of memorial ceremony, family get together at Yisangnu and hold memory service called "Jipsabunjeong". Afterward, there is a family meeting and blessings at Yisangnu.

The ceremony ended over midnight in olden days, when the weather is so cold to see the frost. Yisangnu was a place to share the stories after ceremony and to remember the ancestors. So, it is named "Yisangnu(履霜樓)".

There are three structures remained categorized under Taejangtaesa, "I" shaped Yisangnu, "ㅁ" shaped Taejangtaesa, and "ㄷ" shaped Gojiksa.
Yisangnu has special features of front 7 rooms, side 2 rooms and huge rectangle door in the middle, which connects to the front yard with stairs. The central octagonal pillar is constructed to have a view of Numaru by opening up the inner wall, with attached door closed on the outside wall of the pavilion. The roof is called Paljakjibung(the gambrel roof) with "八" shape, it was designated as Gyeongsangbuk-do Folklore Material No. 26 on April, 25th of 1981. Yisangnu has the biggest scale out of all the Jaesa constructions in Gyeongsangbuk-do, maintained by the Andong Kim Clan descendants.
